MARCH 8, 2005

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that residents needing an instant vehicle title may now apply at the West Wayne County PLUS Office.

The PLUS office, which opened Jan. 19 at 44948 Ford Road in Canton, is one of 12 Secretary of State offices that offer instant title services.

"Our belief is that customer service should be convenient and easy," Land said. "As we continue modernizing our branch office network, we’ll look for ways to enhance services that customers want and need."

Residents applying for an instant title must bring proof of vehicle ownership and proper identification, including a valid driver’s license or state identification card with a photo. An instant title fee of $5 will be added to the regular title fee of $15.

In addition to instant titles, the West Wayne County PLUS Office provides extended Wednesday hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., the ability to pay with a Discover credit card at the counter and the ability of customers to purchase their own driving records. A designated area to serve auto dealers is also provided, which shortens the waiting time for other customers.

The West Wayne County PLUS Office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Instant titles also are available at the following Secretary of State offices:

  • Flint South - G5512 Fenton Road
