AUGUST 12, 2005
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at Michigan State University on Aug. 27 to help students register to vote.
The facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch office and is handicapper accessible. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer.
The office will be on hand for "Party at the Aud," a fall welcome activity for students. It will be at the MSU Auditorium near the corner of Auditorium Drive and Farm Lane. Hours are 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.
"The first step in making your voice heard is registering to vote," Land said.
"I encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity by visiting the mobile office while it is on campus. It’s a convenient way to register or to conduct other business with the Secretary of State."
Following its visit to East Lansing, the Mobile Branch Office will be in Battle Creek, Schoolcraft and Ravenna. It has logged more than 100,000 miles since it first hit the road nearly eight years ago.
Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the Department of State’s online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license tabs and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site will help customers determine requirements before they go to an office.
