Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land reminds residents that the Mobile Branch Office will provide temporary service prior to the opening of the Marquette County PLUS Office.
The Marquette County PLUS Office at 2025 U.S. 41 W. in the Marquette Mall will open Nov. 7. Features include expanded Wednesday hours, a Self-Service Station for easy license plate tab renewals and the option of paying at the counter with a Discover credit card. It is being formed with resources from the current Ishpeming and Marquette branch offices. Those offices will stop serving customers as of 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1.
To assist county residents during the transition, the Department of State Mobile Branch Office will operate in the parking lot next to the current Marquette branch at 1301 O’Dovero Drive from Nov. 2 - 4. The mobile unit is a full-service branch office and is accessible to the disability community.
The Mobile Branch Office will serve customers:
- Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thursday, Nov. 3 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, Nov. 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Services also are available at other branch offices throughout the region including Munising at 418 Mill Street and L’Anse at 115 Front Street. The Munising and L’Anse offices are open 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday the hours are 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Land encourages all customers with Internet access to check out the department’s online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, vehicle license plates and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site also helps customers determine fees and requirements before they go to an office.
