OCTOBER 3, 2006
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will visit Bay City on Friday, Oct. 6, to register people to vote.
The mobile office will be at the Alice and Jack Wirt Public Library, 500 Center Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Land also reminds people that Oct. 10 is the last day to register for the Nov. 7 election.
"With the voter registration deadline rapidly approaching, I encourage every one to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure that their voices are heard," Land said. "Bay City area residents also should remember that the mobile office offers them the same services available in any branch office."
The facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch office and is accessible to people with disabilities. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer that has logged more than 100,000 miles since it hit the road in almost nine years ago.
The library stop comes in the middle of the office’s 2006 college tour, which has taken it to most of the state’s public universities to register college students. After leaving Bay City, the office travels to Eastern Michigan and the University of Michigan.
Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the department’s online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license tabs and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site will help customers determine requirements before they go to an office.
