National Association of Secretaries of State plans event
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that Grand Rapids will host the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) 2008 summer conference.
"Grand Rapids is a world-class city with much to offer," Land said. "It's the perfect venue for this important conference. Visitors will see firsthand what makes Grand Rapids - and our entire state - so great. I appreciate the confidence that NASS is showing in our city and look forward to a productive conference next year."
The event is July 24 - 29, 2008. Specific details are being finalized.
Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell applauded the organization's decision.
"We are honored that this prestigious association has selected our city as the site of its 2008 summer conference," he said. "All of our guests will find plenty to enjoy in Grand Rapids and the surrounding area. We look forward to working with Secretary Land and her team to make this conference a success."
NASS selected Michigan during its recent winter conference in Washington, D.C. The summer conference usually attracts up to 400 guests, including secretaries of state from across the country, their families, staff and exhibitors.
NASS is the nation's oldest, nonpartisan organization of public officials and boasts members from every state, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. Visit www.nass.org for more information.
