SEPTEMBER 4, 2007
Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at Saginaw Valley State University on Sept. 17 to help students register to vote.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17. The office will be at the Gazelle Fountain Courtyard by Wickes Hall for the university's Constitution Day activities. Politically active student groups will be at the event to get students involved and more knowledgeable about the U.S. Constitution.
"The first step in making your voice heard is registering to vote," Land said.
"I encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity by visiting the mobile office while it is on campus. It's a convenient way to register or to conduct other business with the Secretary of State."
The facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch office and is accessible to people with disabilities. It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer that has logged more than 125,000 miles since it first hit the road 10 years ago.
Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the department's online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license tabs and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site will help customers determine requirements before they go to an office.
