 Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be available to serve customers during the 10-day Michigan State Fair in Detroit.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day from Friday, Aug. 22, to Saturday, Aug. 23 and Monday, Aug. 25 to Monday, Sept. 1.  The office will be at state fairgrounds, 1120 W. State Fair Ave., on Wolverine Way across from the Administration Building.

"I encourage fair-goers to take advantage of this opportunity," Land said.  "The Mobile Branch Office offers visitors a convenient option to conduct their Department of State business.  The mobile office is a great example of how we're offering service options that fit your schedule."

The facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch office and is accessible to people with disabilities.  It is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer that has logged more than 125,000 miles since it first hit the road more than 10 years ago.

The office will not be able to process driver-license transactions on Sundays during the Michigan State Fair because the national driver record database won't be operating those days.

Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the department's online services at http://www.Michigan.gov/sos/ before visiting any branch office.  For example, license tabs and watercraft registrations can be renewed online.  Browsing the site will help customers determine requirements before they go to an office.
