Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land reminds southeastern
Michigan residents that the Mobile Branch Office is available to serve customers
during the Michigan State Fair in Detroit.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day through Monday, Sept.
1. The office will be at the state fairgrounds, 1120 W. State Fair Ave., on
Wolverine Way across from the Administration Building.
"The Mobile Branch Office offers visitors a convenient
option to renew vehicle tabs, update their driver's license or conduct other
Secretary of State business," Land said. "The mobile office's visit to the state
fair is a great example of how we're offering service options that fit your
schedule. I encourage fair-goers to take advantage of this opportunity."
The facility is a full-service Secretary of State branch
office and is accessible to people with disabilities. It is hauled statewide on
a 24-foot trailer that has logged more than 125,000 miles since it first hit the
road more than 10 years ago.
The office will not be able to process driver's license
transactions on Sundays during the Michigan State Fair because the national
driver record database doesn't operate those days.
Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to
check out the department's online services at
www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license
tabs and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site will
help customers determine requirements before they go to an office.
