SEPTEMBER 3, 2008

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the creation of two PLUS offices in western and northern Oakland County will mean enhanced service and greater convenience for customers throughout the region.

The new West Oakland County PLUS Office opens at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 672 N. Milford Road in Highland. The existing Milford office at 236 W. Summit St. and Waterford office at 4224 Pontiac Lake Road, which will be consolidated to form the West Oakland County PLUS office, will close at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Just a week later, the new North Oakland County PLUS Office opens at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7090 Sashabaw Road in Clarkston. The existing Clarkston office at 5807 S. Main St. and Fenton office at 1549 N. Leroy St. in Genesee County, which will be consolidated to form the North Oakland County PLUS office, will close at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 24.

"Oakland County's new PLUS offices meet the needs of 21st century consumers with expanded hours and added services that help make office visits more convenient," Land said. "Customers have asked for timesaving options and we're delivering."

PLUS offices offer additional services and conveniences, such as payment by Discover and MasterCard credit and branded debit cards at the counter, expanded Wednesday hours from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., instant titles, the ability to purchase your own driving record on site and Self-Service Stations for quick tab renewals. The new Oakland County PLUS offices will have Self-Service Stations accessible 24 hours a day.

Customers who normally use the Milford and Waterford offices and need services during Sept. 18-23, may use the Oakland County SUPER!Center at 1608 N. Perry St. in Pontiac, the Southwest Oakland County PLUS Office at 31164 Beck Road in Novi or the Clarkston office.

Likewise, customers who normally use the Fenton and Clarkston offices and need services during Sept. 25-30, may use the Flint Area SUPER!Center at 5512 Fenton Road in Flint, the Oakland County SUPER!Center or the Rochester Hills office at 2250 Crooks Road.

The PLUS offices and SUPER!Centers are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. SUPER!Centers have added hours on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The Clarkston and Rochester Hills offices are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Creation of the PLUS offices is part of the 2008 phase of Land's Branch Office Modernization Program. The goal is to provide customers with state-of-the-art services while containing expenditures. The program's emphasis on investing in people and services, and not "bricks and mortar," has allowed the Secretary of State's Office to minimize costs by using existing facilities and resources whenever possible as well as preserve employee jobs.

The program was launched in April 2004 and has resulted in the development of 29 PLUS offices and six SUPER!Centers throughout the state. Customer satisfaction has consistently been high thanks to the modern, convenient services and enhanced efficiencies these offices provide.
