Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land released the following statement regarding the death of Kevin Kelly, the former executive director of the Michigan State Medical Society:

"Michigan has lost a leading citizen and a good man. I feel very fortunate to have known Kevin for more than a decade and to have served with him on the CyberMichigan board of advisors. In his many endeavors, which included efforts to advance the causes of traffic safety and organ donation, he dedicated himself to improving the lives of his fellow residents.

"Kevin was full of ideas and ready to work together to reach an objective, even if there were many obstacles to success. I don't recall him ever saying, 'We can't do that.'

His positive outlook and perseverance enabled him to achieve many goals and to make many friends.

"He leaves a legacy of outstanding service to others that can inspire us all. I offer my prayers and best wishes to his family members as they remember his honorable life."
