FEBRUARY 11, 2009

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land was recently honored for her career achievements by Inforum, Michigan's largest organization for professional women.

Land was recognized as an Inner Circle honoree at a reception in Grand Rapids on Feb. 4 along with more than two dozen other women executives from the region. Each was nominated as "one of the area's most powerful and accomplished women business leaders," according to Inforum.

"I'm very grateful to Inforum for this honor," Land said. "I'm also thankful to live in Michigan, where the sky is the limit for women in business, politics and other endeavors. I encourage all women to believe and then achieve their dreams."

At the awards event, Land and other honorees each held table discussions with several emerging women business leaders, providing inspiration and guidance to them based on personal experience.

Inforum has more than 2,000 members in its southeast Michigan, mid-Michigan and west Michigan affiliates. According to its Web site at www.inforummichigan.org, Inforum's mission is "to strengthen the business environment in Michigan by creating opportunities for women to lead and succeed."
