Secretary of State mobile office to assist while Allegan office remodeled Aug. 23-27

The Secretary of State office at 430 Western Ave. in Allegan will be closed for remodeling Monday, Aug. 23, through Friday, Aug. 27th. However, the Mobile Branch Office will be on hand to serve customers.

Customers and staff will benefit from the renovations that include new carpeting and a more customer-friendly counter design.

The office will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, Aug. 30.  Office hours will remain unchanged.  The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.

The mobile office will be open during the Allegan office's normal hours and will be available outside the office.  It is accessible to people with disabilities and will offer all the services of the regular office.

Allegan County residents who need Secretary of State services during the relocation also may visit the following offices:

The Kalamazoo, Ottawa and Van Buren county PLUS offices are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Hastings is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

The Secretary of State mails notices to motorists 45 days before their driver's license or license plates expire so that they have ample time to renew.  Residents may "skip the trip" to a branch office by renewing vehicle and watercraft registrations online or by touch-tone telephone.  Details are included with the renewal notice.
