Branch office opens in Chesterfield Township
October 25, 2001
Secretary of State Candice S. Miller today announced that a new Secretary of State branch office will open in Chesterfield Township on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The new branch will be located at 51305 Gratiot Ave., near the northwest corner of 23-Mile Road, in front of Home Depot and next to Meijer.
"Chesterfield Township is one of the fastest growing areas in the state, and that growth would not be complete without a Secretary of State branch office to serve the community," said Secretary Miller. "The dramatic increase in population made it necessary to open a new branch office in the Chesterfield area."
The Chesterfield Secretary of State branch office is the first tenant in a new shopping plaza located one-quarter mile from I-94. It features 3800 square feet of office space and plenty of parking.
Office hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The office will be open during the lunch hour.
Assigned to the new Chesterfield branch office are branch manager Donna McCalpin-Obidzinski, and three staff. The office will have five workstations to serve customers, but has the capacity to operate 12 workstations as business increases.
Additionally, the new office features an automobile dealer work area with two workstations and a separate entrance with dealer drop boxes.
In keeping with Secretary Miller's commitment to have branch offices reflect the community and regions where they are located, the Chesterfield branch office will have a sailboat-racing theme.
In the first year, the new branch is expecting to process 60,000 to 80,000 transactions, with as many as 200,000 by its fifth year of operation, including a significant amount of watercraft registrations and renewals.
