MARCH 10, 2004

Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today announced that the Mobile Branch Office will be at Grand Valley State University in Ottawa County on March 18 and 19 to help students register to vote.

It will be outside the Kirkoff Student Building, 1 Campus Dr., Allendale near the clock tower. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The mobile office is open to all customers. It is, however, also scheduled to be on campus to assist Grand Valley State University students in registering to vote.

"We want to help people register to vote or conduct other business with us. With March being Young Voter Month, this is an especially appropriate time for us to visit Grand Valley," Land said. "The Mobile Branch Office is a great tool that lets us better reach all corners of Michigan."

The Mobile Branch Office provides all services found at any Secretary of State branch office. The facility is handicapper accessible and is hauled statewide on a 24-foot trailer.

Following the visit to Allendale, the mobile office travels to Traverse City for the Northwest Camper & RV Show. It has logged more than 100,000 miles since it first hit the road nearly seven years ago.

Land encourages all customers who have Internet access to check out the department's online services at www.Michigan.gov/sos before visiting any branch office. For example, license plates and watercraft registrations can be renewed online. Browsing the site also helps customers determine fees and requirements before they go to an office.
