How can I claim or redeem my vehicle once it's declared abandoned?

You
have 20 days from the date of the notice sent by the Secretary of State to
redeem your vehicle by paying the towing, storage and abandoned vehicle fees to
the custodian. Some municipalities may also require you to pay additional fines
or fees.
Your
Notice Of Abandoned Vehicle form (TR-52E) tells you where your vehicle is
located. You may also check the
Michigan Auto Lost & Found Web site and
enter your VIN or plate number. You may be required to show proof of ownership
before redeeming the vehicle.
If
you do not redeem the vehicle or request a hearing within 20 days, the secured
party may obtain release of the vehicle by paying the towing, storage and
abandoned vehicle fees.
