Full-service office available during Feb. 11-19 show
DETROIT, Mich. -- The Secretary of State Mobile Office, offering full branch
services, will be powered up and ready for business at the Detroit Boat Show,
Secretary of State Ruth Johnson announced today.
"This is a perfect opportunity to learn about renewing your watercraft," Johnson
said. "And that's not all you can do. Renew your license plate tabs, renew your
driver's license or get duplicate titles and registration. It's easy. Stop by
our booth and ask our friendly staff about doing business during the boat show."
Watercraft registration renewal notices are mailed out in March by the Secretary
of State's office.
"We won't be surprised to see watercraft registrations increase this year as
positive boat sales reports are coming in from our Michigan dealers," said Nicki
Polan, director of communications for the Michigan Boating Industries
Association. "The Detroit Boat Show is packed to the gills with more boats and
brands at great prices and pent-up demand is driving sales. We are pleased that
the Secretary of State's Mobile Office will be on site to serve our attendees."
Besides displaying the latest in power boats, pontoons, fishing boats and
personal watercraft, the show offers safety training on Feb. 18. Visitors can
take a free day-long boating safety certification course, courtesy of the
Oakland County Sheriff's Marine Division and the Michigan Department of Natural
Resources. Registration starts at 11 a.m. and the certification test begins at
4:30 p.m.
The Mobile Office will be open during the show's public days, which run Feb. 11
through Feb. 19 at Cobo Center, 1 Washington Blvd. in Detroit. Show hours are as
follows:
