Ordering a title history Vehicle title and registration histories are purchased through the Record Lookup
Unit. If you do not have a Record Lookup account with the Department of State,
you must complete a record request form for each title history. Use form
BDVR-153 when requesting your own record and form
BDVR-154 when requesting
another person's record. Each form contains a list of permissible reasons for
requesting the information. Customers requesting another person's title or
registration history who do not have a permissible use will receive a record
with all personal information redacted.
Note: Records requested by mail, fax or telephone are mailed and should arrive
within three weeks but may require as much as six weeks to process.
Make sure to include the license plate number, registration number or vehicle
identification number with your request.
Fees
Each title transaction requested is $7. For title histories with multiple
transactions (for example, the vehicle changed owners several times), you will
be charged $7 for each title transfer on record. An invoice for the balance owed
will be sent to you.
A certified copy of a driving or vehicle record is available for $8.
