The Department of State Web site has a series of publications to assist the vehicle customer with issues from buying a vehicle to having one repaired.

General Information

The Department of State regulates and enforces the Michigan Vehicle Code and the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Act and investigates complaints that fall within these laws. This includes consumer complaints against vehicle dealers, repair facilities and mechanics.

Some vehicle-related complaints do not fall within the jurisdiction of the laws we administer. Before filing a complaint, check to see if your complaint is non-jurisdictional.
