FAQ
UCC Online - Searching Information
How will a financing statement filed through the Internet look in a search result?

Our system will create an image that looks the same as the paper version of the UCC form you selected. That image will show in subsequent searches and as an attachment to your filing acknowledgement. Instead of a bar code, the statement "This document was filed electronically" will appear in the upper right corner of the form.

Are the search results obtained through the Internet different than I would receive through the mail?

Yes. You will receive results in electronic format files called PDF. If you print the files out, the results will be identical to the results you would have received mailing in a search request. Among the many advantages of completing a search on line:

  • You get results quickly, generally in a few minutes, instead of waiting for mail turnaround times.
  • You may store the electronic format on your hard drive, or on a floppy disk or CD-ROM.
  • Electronically stored search results take up less space than paper search results.

I want to submit a search in order to verify the filing I just completed on line. Will my filing show right away in the search results?

Yes, it will. As soon as you complete Checkout, the filing will show on any search, either on line or paper based, for that debtor. If you complete a search after filing, your filing will appear but will not be within the certified date range. The certified date will always be at least one day earlier, to allow for paper-based filings. If you want search results showing your filing on or before the certified date, wait two or three days, then submit your search.

What results are returned in a Debtor Name Quick Search?

Search results display the debtor name as entered by the search submitter. If there are records for that debtor name, the following fields are shown:

File number
Date filed
Active or lapsed status

If you want to view the documents listed, select the "UCC11" button. You will have several search options, including obtaining the specific copies shown or completing a certified search of the debtor name. Search fees will then apply.
