When a tangible product is sold to the public a sales tax license is required. You may call the Michigan Department of Treasury at (517) 636-4660 and request a 518 form.

When selling gasoline, a Retail Gas Outlet license is required with the Department of Agriculture, Laboratory Division, (517) 655-8202.

If beer, wine and/or liquor is sold, a license should be obtained from the Liquor Control Commission; (517) 322-1345.

When cigarettes are sold (including vending machines) which have been purchased directly from a manufacturer, a license is required with the Department of Treasury, Motor Fuel, Cigarette, and Miscellaneous Taxes Division; (517) 636-4630.

Selling live bait (minnows) contact the Department of Natural Resources, Administrative Services Division; (517) 373-1204 for a "wholesale and retail license."
