The requirements for the Flammability of Mattresses and Mattress Pads can be found at 16 C.F.R. Part 1632. You can obtain the mandatory flammability standards from the CPSC Web Site at: http://www.cpsc.gov. The label need not be registered in Michigan.

In addition, some communities may have ordinances regarding selling bedding so contact local authorities for what may be required.

A sales tax license will be necessary with the Michigan Department of Treasury at (517) 636-4730.

Act 199 of 2000, effective June 22, 2000 repealed a state labeling requirement under Act 54 of 1917 MCL 429.301- 429.311 for mattresses and comforters.
