Pet Shop Operator

Required State License(s):

Anyone offering non-livestock, non-rodent mammals (e.g. dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, sugar gliders, hedgehogs) for sale or transfer must be licensed with the Michigan Department of Agriculture as a Pet Shop. Individuals that are selling animals that the owner of the business has produced as a result of breeding his or her animal are exempted under this law and are not required to be licensed as a Pet Shop. A license is required from the Department of Agriculture, Animal Industry Division at (517) 373-1077.
