When teaching special education areas: autistic impaired; emotionally impaired, hearing impaired, learning disabled; mentally impaired, orthopedically impaired; pre-primary impaired, speech and language impaired; or visually impaired; special education teachers are required to be approved with the Department of Education; (517) 373-6505.

When teaching a state-reimbursed classroom a vocational certification is required with the Department of Education; (517) 373-6505.
