Water Well Contractor

Required State License(s):

 

Before engaging in the business of constructing, altering, or repairing water wells, or plugging abandoned water wells, a license is required from the Department of Environmental Quality, Well Construction Unit (517) 241-1370.  When personally constructing or repairing a water well on private or leased property for one's own personal use in a single-family dwelling, a license is not required.

 

Well construction permits are required from county or district health departmentsbefore starting well construction.

 

Further Information:

 

Registered well drilling contractors may also perform the work of pump installers.
