Required State License(s):

A license is required when engaging in business as an alarm system contractor.  Contact the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Commercial Services at (517) 241-9288 for licensure information or visit our website at www.michigan.gov/securityalarm.  Note:  This does not apply to a business that only sells or manufactures alarms, unless the business also services, installs, monitors or responds to alarms.

When engaged in the business of fire alarm contracting a license is required with a local licensing jurisdiction or the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Construction Codes, Electrical Division at (517) 241-9320.

When installing auto alarms a license is required with the Department of State, Mechanic Certification Division; (517) 373-9460.
