Brewpub

Required State License(s):

Brewpub means a license issued in conjunction with an existing on-premise license (Class C, Tavern, Class A Hotel or Class B Hotel), authorizing the person to manufacture and sell at that licensed premises not more than 2,000 barrels of beer per year for consumption on the premises only. A Brewpub license is issued by the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Growth, Liquor Control Commission, Manufacturers and Wholesalers Section; (517) 322-1345.

License application requirements are as follows:

1. License application must be submitted. 

2. Report of Corporate Officers, Board of Directors and Stockholders (corporate applicants only).

3. Inspection Fee is required to authorize a field investigation.

4. Federal Permit is required. A Brewer's Notice is issued by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (BATF). For federal permit information contact: BATF - Detroit (313) 393-6000 or Grand Rapids (616) 301-6100. 

The aforementioned document requirements are assuming you hold an existing on-premise license as required by law to obtain a Brewpub license. Additional documents will be required if you are concurrently applying for a new on-premise license or applying to transfer ownership of an existing on-premise license.
