WHAT CAN CET DO FOR YOU?

MIOSHA's Consultation Education and Training (CET) Division offers free statewide safety and health assistance to employers and employees. A staff of experienced, professional occupational safety experts, construction safety consultants and industrial hygienists can provide a wide range of customized services.

WE VISIT

A CET consultant can schedule a visit to your workplace to conduct a free MIOSHA inspection with no citations and no penalties. Our experienced professionals will help you identify hazards in your workplace. Together we can tour your facility to suggest ways you can create a safer and healthier environment for your workers. A deferral from programmed enforcement inspections is provided during the time employers are working proactively with MIOSHA to survey and correct hazards.

WE TEACH

We can teach you and your employees how to identify and correct safety and health hazards at your workplace. Other training services provide information about MIOSHA standards and recordkeeping. We also offer "how to" programs on a variety of topics such as developing a safety committee, safe lifting techniques, accident investigation, lockout procedures, machine guarding, noise, and confined spaces, to name a few.

WE RECOGNIZE

MIOSHA offers many opportunities for safety and health recognition. The Michigan Challenge Program (MCP) is designed for companies that have above average injury and illness rates. Employers who accept the challenge can work with CET consultants to develop a safety and health management system. The highest-level awards are the Michigan Voluntary Protection Program (MVPP) and the Michigan Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (MSHARP). Also, achievements such as "no lost time" or ergonomic innovations provide other avenues to be recognized. A CET consultant can provide assistance to help you achieve MIOSHA recognition.

WE CERTIFY

MIOSHA offers certification for attending specified workshops and seminars through the MIOSHA Training Institute (MTI). Certificate programs are available for General Industry Safety and Health as well as Construction Safety and Health. These seminars and workshops are offered throughout the state in partnership with other safety and health organizations, community colleges and associations. In addition to MTI courses, you can attend other CET Division seminars and workshops on relevant safety and health topics. For a more in-depth description of courses offered, please visit our website at www.michigan.gov/mioshatraining.

WE SUPPORT

We support your safety and health efforts with a variety of material. An extensive Publications Library offers a wide range of occupational safety and health materials designed to increase safety and health awareness, including: posters, stickers, brochures, permits, and fact sheets. These materials are all located on the MIOSHA website and are just a mouse click away. For more information on our publications, please visit www.michigan.gov/mioshapublications. We also offer more than 150 different safety and health videos are available for free loan on a wide range of topics. The only charge is the cost of returning the borrowed videos. You can also view our video catalog online at www.michigan.gov/mioshavideos.

WE CONNECT

MIOSHA connects with industry for the betterment of the workplace through Partnerships and Alliances. These formal agreements offer an opportunity to work closely with MIOSHA to promote dialogue, conduct outreach efforts to promote worker safety and health, and share best practices. Partnerships include the opportunity for non-traditional enforcement strategies. Alliances are developed to focus on education and outreach activities, and do not include enforcement inspection activities.
