Commercial Drivers License

Required State License(s): A Commercial Drivers License is required in Michigan for any resident who intends to operate: (1) A vehicle having a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 26,001 pounds or more. (2) Combination vehicles towing a trailer or other vehicles with a GVWR over 10,000 pounds. (3) Vehicles having a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 pounds or more towing trailers or other vehicles not more than 10,000 pounds GVWR. (4) Vehicles designed to carry 16 or more people (including the driver). (5) Vehicles carrying 15 or fewer people (including the driver) transporting children to or from school and home on a regular basis for compensation.
