Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Health Systems Licensed
Michigan hospitals are defined by their participation in Medicare. Each
designation carries special operating requirements and/or restrictions. These
licensed hospitals must comply with procedures, building codes and fire safety
regulations from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Bureau of
Health Systems, Division of Health Facilities & Services and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Fire Services, respectively.

D. SUMMARY OF LICENSE/APPROVAL PROCESS:

Applicability (activities that require the license)
Patients under a physician's care requiring 24-hour acute care services.
2.
Pre-Application Requirements
Medical staff scheduled to start, patient services (food, linen, cleaning,
etc) scheduled.
3.
Application Submission Requirements
BHS-LC-100 completed.
4.
Procedures and Time-Frame for Obtaining Permit or Approval
Pre-licensure survey conducted before patients can be seen. 1-2 weeks after
facility is ready for occupancy.
5.
Operational Requirements
The facility must be ready for occupancy and license.

$8.28 per bed
