A license is not required, however, a person engaged in the practice of interior design may be eligible to be added to a State list of Interior Designers. Further Information:
On August 14, 1995, the Gongwer stated, "the Attorney General has ruled (Opinion No. 6864) that an interior or building designer who is not regulated by the state must have a license if they engage in work relating to plumbing, mechanical contracting or electrical contracting.
"The Occupational Code specifically exempts interior designers and building designers from regulation. The Attorney General said, "it would be absurd to permit them to engage in other practices which are regulated unless they first meet the education, experience and other requirements."
The Attorney General also ruled that a person affected by such unlicensed work may seek an injunction to halt it.
