Non-Transferable Municipal Golf Course License

All persons engaged in the manufacture, importation, possession, transportation, and sale of alcohol must obtain a license from the MLCC. Licenses are issued by the MLCC in accordance with the requirements of the Liquor Control Code of 1998 and MLCC administrative rules.
A Municipal Golf Course License may be issued in a county of 1,000,000 or more for a golf course that is owned by a county, city, village, or township and is open to the public. This on premises Class C license allows the sale of beer, wine, spirits, and mixed spirit drink for consumption on the premises.
A Municipal Golf Course License may also be issued in a county with a population of between 500,000 and 700,000 for a golf course that is owned by a city with a population of over 190,000 but under 300,000 and is open to the public. This on premises Tavern license allows the sale of beer and wine for consumption on the premises.
These types of on premises licenses are not subject to the limitations and quotas of 1 public license for each 1,500 of population or major fraction in each city, village, and township (local governmental unit) in Michigan.
