When raising or selling wildlife a license is required with the Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division at (517) 373-1263.

When harboring animals or birds in captivity for pets or other noncommercial purposes a "Possession Permit" is required with the Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division at (517) 373-1263.

Importing state protected bird(s) or its egg(s), protected and non-protected game, or fur bearing animals an "Importation Permit" is required with the Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division at (517) 373-1263; before the species are shipped to other state locations.
