    Required State License(s):

    Real estate appraisers are required to be licensed.  Contact the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Commercial Services at (517) 241-9288 for licensure information or visit our website at www.michigan.gov/appraisers

    When employed by a county, city or township to examine the personal property or cost records of an individual or firm for property tax purposes are required to be certified with the Department of Treasury, State Tax Commission; (517) 636-4730.

    When engaged in the business of adjusting the loss or damage by fire or other hazard under any insurance policy a license is required with the Office of Financial and Insurance Services; (517) 373-0234.
