    Repossession Agency

    Required State License(s):

    Repossession of motor vehicles requires collection agency license.

    The agency and the agency manager must be licensed.  Contact the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Commercial Services at (517) 241-9288 for licensure information or visit our website at www.michigan.gov/collections.

    Repossession license plates may be obtained from the local Secretary of State office.
