Solar Heating Sales/Installation

When solar equipment is installed as a heating element on a residential/commercial structure, licenses are required with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Residential Builders', Maintenance and Alteration Contractors at (517) 241-9254; and the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Mechanical Division at (517) 241-9325.

A sales tax license may also be required. You may call the Michigan Department of Treasury at (517) 636-4660.

Personalized sales tax returns and a payment schedule will be mailed within four to six weeks after the registration has been processed. If you have questions about this process, please call the Michigan Department of Treasury at (517) 636-4730.
