| Body Mass Index |
Calculating your Body Mass Index (BMI) is a way to help determine if you are at a healthy weight. Once you know your BMI weight category, you can then work with your health care provider to discuss goals for your weight and health.

Please note: BMI is not a fool-proof method for evaluating weight. Some people who are "underweight" are healthy. Some with a "normal" BMI have a lot of body fat. Some who are classified as "overweight" by this method have a lot of muscle and little fat. Some other people who are classified as "overweight" by this method are actually at a healthy weight for them and do not need to lose weight. Please discuss your BMI weight category with your health care provider to decide whether weight gain or loss is right for you and if so, how to improve your exercise and eating patterns for better health.
