2010 Voluntary Contribution Information

Taxpayers are able to make a donation from the refund on their 2010 Income Tax return to any of the organizations listed below.  If a taxpayer is not receiving a refund, then the donations will increase the amount of tax due.  Donations can be made by filling out Form 4642, 2010 Michigan Voluntary Contributions Schedule.

Michigan Department of Aggriculture

Animal Welfare Fund

Contributions to the Animal Welfare Fund, administered by the Department of Agriculture, will go to Michigan animal shelters and nonprofit organizations in the form of grants to help increase the spaying or neutering and adopting of homeless pet, promote the importance of spaying or neutering and adopting of animals to the community, educate the public and training personnel on the proper care of animals, and finance the costs of caring for and protecting animals involved in neglect or cruelty cases.  For more information view the Animal Welfare Fund information sheet.

   

Children's Hospital of Michigan: Detroit Medical Center

Children's Hospital of Michigan Fund

The Children's Hospital of Michigan at the Detroit Medical Center is dedicated exclusively to the treatment, well-being, and health care advocacy of children.  Donations help support the hospital in providing life-saving pediatric care, research and education.  Please consider choosing Children's Hospital of Michigan Fund this year and help make a real difference in thousands of children's lives.  For more information visit www.childrensdmc.org/CheckOffChildrens.

   

Michigan Department of Community Health

Children's Miracle Network Fund

The Children's Miracle Network Fund, administered by the Department of Community Health, was created to provide funds for donation to the Children's Miracle Network to support the Children's Miracle Network hospitals located in this State in providing life-saving pediatric care, education, and research.

   

Michigan Department of Human Services

Children's Trust Fund

Help prevent Child Abuse!  You may contribute to the Children's Trust Fund by entering your contribution amount ($5 or more).  These contributions are returned to local communities in the form of grants to volunteer child abuse prevention councils and competitive grants to direct services preventing child abuse in local areas.  Programs and services funded by these monies include respite care, parent education, pregnancy/newborn support services, support groups, local family resource counsels, and public education and outreach programs in your local community.  For more information visit www.michigan.gov/ctf.

   

Michigan Department of Treasury

Children of Veterans Tuition Grant Program

Help send the child of a Michigan veteran to a Michigan college or university.  Michigan income taxpayers can voluntarily contribute to the Children of Veterans Tuition Grant Program.  Contributions will be a key source of funding for the undergraduate tuition expenses of children of certain deceased or disabled veterans.  For more information, visit www.michigan.gov/osg.

   

Michigan Department of Human Services

Foster Care Trust Fund

Contributions to the Foster Care Trust Fund, administered by the Department of Human Services, will be used to identify and address issues facing foster children in Michigan and to work with existing foster care programs to build further service capacity in the State.

 

   

Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs

Michigan Council for the Arts Fund - Local Grant Programs

Help keep your community thriving with quality arts and culture.  You may contribute to the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs in support of local arts and cultural events.  These contributions are returned to local communities and nonprofit organizations in the form of grants.  Programs and services funded by these monies include arts education and low-cost performances and exhibits.  For more information, visit the MCACA Web site.

   

Department of Military and Veterans Affairs

Military Family Relief Fund

The Military Family Relief Fund, administered by the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, provides assistance to qualifying families of military members in either the Michigan National Guard who are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces or those reserve forces called to active duty by the federal government.  For more information, visit the Support Our Troops page on the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs site.

   

Department of Energy, Labor & Economic Growth

Renewable Fuels Fund

Contributions to the Renewable Fuels Fund, administered by the Department of Energy, Labor, and Economic Growth, will be used to promote the production and use of renewable fuels in Michigan, including, but not limited to: biodiesel, biodiesel blends, hydrogen fuel, and E85 fuel.

   

United Way Fund

United Way Fund

Contributions to the United Way Fund (of America) will be used to improve the lives of Michigan residents by mobilizing the caring power of communities to provide for basic needs, including, but not limited to, food, clothing, and shelter.  For more information, visit the United Way Web site.
