Withholding on Retirement Benefits
> 2012 Pension Withholding Guide
Effective January 1, 2012, Michigan law requires the administrators of pension and retirement benefits to withhold income tax on payments that will be subject to tax.
>

The Withholding Rate reduction scheduled to take place on October 1, 2011, was repealed by Public Act 38 of 2011. Therefore, the income tax rate will remain 4.35% and Withholding Tables will remain unchanged.

Filing Deadlines

All businesses are required to file an annual return each year.

Filer Due Date
Monthly On or before the 20th day of the following month
Quarterly On or before the 20th day of the month following the quarter
Annual February 28th
Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT)  On or before the 20th of the following month
Accelerated Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) Paid according to the federal schedule.
