How can I obtain copies of previously filed returns?

To obtain copies of previously filed returns, and attachments, you may use the Check My Income Tax Info option on this web site. For privacy and security reasons you will be asked for your social security number, name,
adjusted gross income, household income and filing status for the last year shown as processed.

Click on the "Check My Income Tax Info" option located on the home page in the left hand column. |

Select the option "Submit a Question to Treasury" button on the next page and follow the directions. |

After verification of your identification, choose the appropriate link "Ask Treasury a Question". |

You will be asked to enter the tax year, your federal adjusted gross income/household income and filing status. Follow the directions given on the next page to request copies of previously filed returns. |

Please include your complete name, address, social security number and tax year. There is no charge for this service, but please allow at least 30 days for delivery.
Returns more than four years old may not be available and recorded tax information will be sent. Starting with tax year 2002, W-2s will not be available (see Schedule W).
