FAQ
  Individual Income Tax
The account number on my return is incorrect; what should I do?

Answer:
Contact your financial institution to verify if the account information you listed is correct.

No changes can be made to your return or account number once your return has been received.

  • If the account number is not a valid number the financial institution will return the deposit to the Michigan Department of Treasury. The refund will be mailed to the address on your return.
  • If it is a valid account number your financial institution may catch the error and deposit it into your account.  If the deposit goes into a valid account number as indicated on your return, but it is not your account, it is a matter for you and your financial institution to resolve.
