Michigan participates in the IRS Fed/State Modernized e-File (MeF) program.
Tax preparers and transmitters accepted into the Fed/State e-file program may
e-file both the federal and MBT returns. You may also be able to e-file your MBT
return separately from your federal return, if that filing option is supported
by the software program you are using.

How to Participate in the MBT Fed/State e-file Program
- Complete the IRS application process to participate in the IRS Fed/State
e-file Program. Please allow about 45 days to process the application. Read
more about e-file and the IRS application process at
www.irs.gov.
- Once your Federal application is completed and approved, you are
automatically accepted into the Michigan MBT Fed/State e-file program.
- Taxpayers can browse
Michigan's Web site list of tax preparers to find a preparer who offers
e-file. If you do not want to be listed on Michigan's Web site, or you want to
change your contact information, you may e-mail the Alternative Filing Office
at MIefile2D@michigan.gov. You
must include your Electronic Filer Identification Number (EFIN) and telephone
number with your request.
