• What is the Internship Program?
|
The Michigan Tax Tribunal Internship program offers law, accounting, technology and business students on-the-job training in the area of Michigan tax law and tax dispute resolution. Students not only work with Tribunal Judges, they also receive regular feedback and "class" instruction in aspects of the Tribunal.

• How do I apply?
Applicants:
1) must submit a cover letter, resume, writing sample (if applicable) and an official transcript.
2) should demonstrate proficient writing skills.

• Will I receive academic credit for the internship?
|
Interns may be eligible for academic credit. Check with your educational institution for rules and qualifications for credit. Generally, students receive the greatest benefit from roughly 15-20 credit hours.

• Who will I work with during the Internship?
|
Interns will primarily work with Tax Tribunal Judges and specialized staff in their area of academic training.
|
• If I'm selected, will I receive training for the internship?
|
The Michigan Tax Tribunal provides eight hours of training and instruction to prepare students for a successful experience. In addition, the program conducts regular meetings with other students to discuss tax issues. Informal training continues throughout the internship.

• How many hours will I work?
|
Participants are required to work between 10 and 20 hours per week, although additional hours can be arranged, at the Tribunal office in Lansing, Michigan. For outlying area-Ann Arbor, Detroit and Grand Rapids-the Tribunal may be able to arrange an acceptable arrangement with your faculty supervisor.
