Parents and grandparents have a unique opportunity to get their questions about the Michigan Education Trust (MET) answered by MET experts, and to receive help through the contract process, in a face-to-face setting. MET, the state's prepaid tuition program will hold community enrollment sessions on January 23 and 24 at three separate locations around the state.

DOWNTOWN LANSING PUBLIC LIBRARY
Capital Area District Library
3rd Floor Conference Room
401 S. Capitol Ave.
(corner of Capitol Ave. and Kalamazoo St.)
Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January 24, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

BALDWIN PUBLIC LIBRARY
Donor Room
300 W. Merrill St.
Birmingham, MI, 48009
Friday, January 23, and Saturday, January 24, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

GRAND RAPIDS PUBLIC LIBRARY - YANKEE CLIPPER BRANCH
2025 Leonard St. NE
Grand Rapids, MI 49505
Saturday, January 24 from 10 a.m. - 4p.m.

The events offer an excellent opportunity to lock in tuition at current rates. Price changes take effect February 1st. The MET prepaid tuition program gives parents peace of mind in knowing just how far today's dollars will go toward future college tuition.

Those who choose to purchase a contract at one of the community enrollment sessions will have their $25 contract-processing fee waived. Purchasers will need social security numbers for themselves, their child, and any third party named on the contract, along with a check or money order. For more information, call (800) 638-4543.

"There is no time like the present to start saving for your children's future," said State Treasurer Robert J. Kleine. "Parents can secure the MET guarantee of a college education for their child at today's tuition prices. A MET contract protects against future tuition increases and provides access to higher education that is so important in securing the best-paying jobs of the future."

MET contracts can be purchased in one-semester increments. Easy payment options are available, and the total MET contract price, including enrollment fees, qualifies for a Michigan income tax deduction. Enrollments are also accepted online or by mail.

Since its debut in 1988 as the nation's first guaranteed tuition program, MET has sold more than 87,000 contracts and now has nearly $1 billion in assets. Not only are MET contracts portable to Michigan private and out-of-state colleges and universities, they may be transferred to other eligible family members. Since 1988, well over 90 percent of high school graduates with MET contracts have gone on to attend a college or university. Visit www.SETwithMET.com or call 1-800-MET-4-KID (800-638-4543) for enrollment information.
