A permanent testing site for State Assessors Board examinations has been established in Lansing. Examinations may be scheduled in Lansing for any business day for level 1 certification, level 2 certification, level 3 certification, and any State Assessors Board home study course. These examinations are available by appointment only. Appointments may be made for 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. (due to its length, the level 3 comprehensive examination is only available at 9:00 a.m.). The fee for all examinations is $50. Examinations in Lansing may be scheduled by completing and submitting Form 4421, State Assessors Board Examination Registration Request. The location of the permanent testing site in Lansing is in the State Assessors Board offices on the first floor of the Richard H. Austin Building (formerly the Treasury Building), 430 West Allegan Street.
Additionally, as a service to assessing officers and to save travel costs for local units of government, the State Assessors Board works in cooperation with state and regional associations of assessing professionals to provide testing sites periodically throughout Michigan. Examinations may be scheduled for these additional testing sites for level 1 certification, level 2 certification, and any State Assessors Board home study course. These examinations are also scheduled by appointment only. Since these additional testing sites are normally available for three hours, only one examination per person per site is permitted (and the level 3 comprehensive examination is not normally available at these additional testing sites). The fee for all examinations is $50 regardless of the location. Examinations at an additional testing site may be scheduled by completing and submitting Form 4421, State Assessors Board Examination Registration Request. Details regarding testing sites outside the Lansing area are posted to the State Assessors Board Web page as these testing sites are added. Please see the State Assessors Board Web page for specific information regarding testing sites available outside the Lansing area.
If you have any questions concerning examinations at either the permanent Lansing testing site or one of the additional testing sites, please contact the State Assessors Board at 517-373-8320 or State-Assessors-Board@Michigan.gov. Also, please contact the State Assessors Board if you represent a state or regional association of assessing professionals and your association is interested in a cooperative effort to provide a testing site outside the Lansing area.
