18Granholm's Community Service Plan Receives
The Michigan Merit Award Board today approved a resolution requiring high school students to perform 40 hours of community service, to qualify for the Michigan Merit Award. Governor Jennifer Granholm proposed the requirement in her 2004 State of the State address.
04Venture Michigan Fund Accepting Proposals for New $150 Million Fund of Funds
State Treasurer Jay B. Rising, as President of the Venture Michigan Fund, today announced that a request for proposals has been issued to identify fund managers for the state-backed $150 million Venture Michigan Fund. The fund is designed to give Michigan technology start-up companies access to the venture capital needed to become successful job-producing businesses.
