Unemployment Insurance Agency to Hold Seminars for Employers Across the State in October and November - News Release
SEPTEMBER 12, 2008 – Employers will have an opportunity
to learn more about Michigan's unemployment insurance tax and
benefit programs at a free half-day state-sponsored seminar that will be held
around the state in October and early November.
"These seminars are intended to acquaint employers with the
state's unemployment insurance system and with recent changes at the
Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA)," UIA Director Stephen Geskey said. "Experienced agency staff will be the
presenters."

Each seminar will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Topics to be covered include new online services for employers, SUTA
dumping and how to avoid it, employee misclassification, how unemployment
benefits are paid and charged to an employer's tax account, and how to appeal
an unemployment claim.
Geskey said that interested employers can register for any
of the seminars by visiting the agency's website (www.michigan.gov/uia) for a registration
form and fax it to 313.456.2910 or mail the form to UIA, Attn: Ann Marie
