Cookie usage for UIA's Internet Filed Claims Application

A cookie is a small text file that is written to your computer's hard drive. The Internet Filed Claims process uses session cookies to hold data until it is written to the database. These cookies are temporary. They will be deleted when you close the browser. That's why it's important that you close the browser after filing a claim from a publically accessable computer. If your browser is not set up to accept cookies, the claim application process cannot function. Below you will find instructions on how to enable cookies on the newer major browsers. If the instructions here do not apply to the browser you are using, please check the browser's help file for instructions to enable cookies.

Internet Explorer

From the top menu, select Tools > Internet Options. A dialog box will appear. Select the Privacy Tab. If the slider is all the way at the top, you will see text Block All Cookies. Move the slider down until the text changes to Medium. This will allow the session cookies we use to be written. Click on Apply and then OK.

Netscape and Mozilla

From the top menu click Edit > Preferences. A dialog box will appear. Double click on Privacy and Security in the Category window. Click on Cookies. Click on Enable all cookies and click on OK.

Opera

From the top menu click on File. Hover your mouse pointer over Quick Preferences and on the fly-out menu make sure that Enable Cookies is checked.
