The Unemployment Insurance Agency offers an online process to register for and receive you UIA Employer Account Number.   The process is easy, fast, secure and convenient.  The online registration eliminates the need to complete and mail in the ‘Form 518, Michigan Business Tax Registration’ booklet.  After completing this on-line application, you will receive a confirmation number of your electronic submission.  You can receive your UIA Employer Account Number in less than 3 days. 

The online business registration can be used if you are registering a new business or if you have changed the entity type of your existing business (e.g. from sole proprietor to partnership, or incorporating a sole proprietorship or partnership) or acquired all or any part of the assets, organization, trade or business of an existing business having employees in Michigan.
