Changes to Self-Insurance Administrative Rule 408.43

Effective  March 1, 2007 the Workers' Compensation Agency made changes to Administrative Rule 408.43.  The changes to the general rules provide clarification to the rules regarding employers seeking to self-administer claims, definition to group self-insurer investment amounts, defines unacceptable endorsements to excess policies, clarifies acceptable Michigan workers' compensation adjusting experience for service companies and self administered self-insurers, and when claims may be handled outside of Michigan .  Also, these changes allow for letters of credit to be accepted by the Agency without a confirmation letter under circumstances acceptable to the director.  To review the changes, please see WCA Administrative Rules, specifically Rule 408.43a, 408.43i, 408.43k, 408.43m and 408.43q.
