Department of Consumer & Industry Services Director Kathy Wilbur announced that the Funds Administration Board of Trustees elected Libby Child as "chair" effective May 6, 2002.
The Trustees administer a number of funds for the State including the Self-Insured Guaranty Fund, the Second Injury Fund, and the Silicosis and Dust Disease Funds.
Child is the Manager of Integrated Disability Management for Steelcase, Inc., which is headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with facilities throughout the world. As trustee, she represents the self-insured industry in the State of Michigan.
She has been in the workers' compensation field for more than 20 years. She serves on the advisory board of the W.E. Upjohn Institute's "Disability Prevention Among Michigan Employers." She is also an advisory committee member of the Workers' Compensation Health Care Services, the Michigan Manufacturers Association's Workers' Compensation subcommittee, and a member of the Director of Workers' Compensation Advisory Committee of Michigan. Child is a member of the Leadership Forum on Disability for the Washington (D.C.) Business Group on Health, and advisory council member of Michigan State University's Masters Rehabilitation Counseling Education Program. She is representing Steelcase, Inc. on the Board of Managers for the Michigan Self-Insurers' Association, and was inducted into the Michigan Workers' Compensation Hall of Fame in Lansing, Michigan, in April 1999.
Child was appointed as trustee by Governor Engler on May 8, 2001. Her term will expire April 30, 2004.
